As the festive season fills the air with devotion and joy, Durga Puja stands out as one of the most awaited celebrations across the country. The grandeur of pandals, the fragrance of bhog, the rhythm of dhaak, and the blessings of Maa Durga bring people together in a spirit of strength, positivity, and togetherness. Actress Megha Ray, who plays Divya in Sun Neo’s show Divya Prem: Pyaar Aur Rahasya Ki Kahani, shared her heartfelt memories and thoughts about this special festival.
While speaking about Durga Puja, she says, “Being a Bengali, Durga Puja has always been very special to us. We’ve always celebrated it in its fullest glory. Although observing a Navratri fast is not exactly part of our culture, my mother has adapted to the customs of the place she lives in, and she has been keeping the Navratri fast for a while now. Watching her do it alone, I often felt the urge to give her company. In fact, my very first Navratri fast was during the COVID lockdown. Since I was at home with her all day, I wanted to accompany her, and that’s where it started. This year, I’m not doing the nine-day fast, but I’ll still celebrate in whatever little way I can, given my shoot schedule. My most special memory will always be that first nine-day fast I kept just to give my mother company.”
She further added, “Growing up, my family and I celebrated Durga Puja by visiting pandals and enjoying the delicious food prepared there. Watching the grand Durga idol has always been a wonderful experience. Even today, I make sure to take out at least one day to visit a Durga pandal with my mother.”
Sharing about the qualities of Ma Durga that attracted her the most, “As for strength, power, and positivity, I feel deeply connected to these qualities in both my personal and professional life. They have always attracted me, and perhaps that’s why I’m drawn to characters who embody them. Out of the five shows I’ve done so far, all my roles have been of strong, feminine characters who are heroes in their own right, who stand tall and fight evil. I feel I carry that side within me too, and it resonates strongly with who I am.”
Divya Prem: Pyaar Aur Rahasya Ki Kahani tells the story of Divya, a young girl from Ujjain whose world changes forever after crossing paths with Prem. Bringing together love, mystery, and hidden secrets from the past, the show weaves a gripping narrative where tradition beautifully collides with technology.
